Delivery Mode


Blended Delivery: This is a part-time course, meaning that you can gain your qualification whilst working a full-time position. Learning and assessment for this course is primarily delivered online however students are supported through regular progress sessions with the trainer. Students are also expected to attend workshops/webinars and simulation sessions to reinforce learning and provide opportunity to practice skills and knowledge in realistic early childhood education and care environment.


While the main responsibility for learning is with the students, a personal trainer/mentor will be available to support students by phone and email.



Recognition of Prior Learning


Recognition of Prior Learning or RPL pathways is available to students who can provide evidence that they meet the skills and knowledge to the standards required for this course:

  • RPL is offered to all students prior to commencement of the course.

  • RPL is based on a portfolio and interview approach, where students accept the main responsibility for identifying, gathering and submitting evidence about their achievement of the competencies.

  • For those units where the participant cannot provide evidence to the standards required, the participant has the option to complete the learning and assessment for individual units or clusters as required.



Working with Children Check


People working in the Children’s Services sector must agree to have their background checked. This is explained to all students.

  • Administrative or management staff who work in support roles in a children’s services context who wish to develop skills and knowledge in leadership and management to enhance their performance and career prospects in the children’s service industry.

  • Note: Students will be expected to complete practical assessments tasks in an ECEC workplace.


Course Length

This program is a part-time course completed over a period of 12 months (this includes 11 weeks of holiday). A student may take up to 18 months to complete the course i.e. complete assessments and fulfil work placement responsibilities.
